Police in Lusaka on Tuesday arrested three (3) people including a Depot Warehouse Manager in connection with the theft of fertilizer valued at over K1.3 million at Sea Land Commodity Company Limited.
Deputy Zambia Police Service Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale said the suspects are alleged to have stolen 947 by 50 kilogramme (Kg) bags of Compound D fertilizer valued at a total sum of K1,334,417.
Mwale said the theft is suspected to have occurred at unknown time between Tuesday March 9, 2023 and Tuesday March 14, 2023 at Sea Land Commodity Company Limited warehouse located in Lusaka West.

He said the theft was discovered on Tuesday March 14, 2023 around 08:00 hours by one of the company employees who immediately alerted the Police.
“Police officers visited the scene and investigations were instituted which revealed that the fertilizer was secured in the company warehouse on March 9, 2023 and on March 14, 2023, it was discovered that 947 bags of fertilizer were missing from where it was secured inside the warehouse,” Mwale said.
He said three suspects were arrested and detained in custody.
