Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Kasonde Mwenda has been detained after presenting himself to the police.
Mwenda who had been on the run since Friday presented himself to the police on Sunday before he was charged with unlawful assembly.
As of Sunday, the police were in the process of formally charging Mwenda with the offense of escape from lawfulr custody.

This is according to police Deputy Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale, in a statement issued on Sunday.
“Mwenda presented himself to the Police around 15:00 hours.
“He is detained in police custody charged for the offense of unlawful assembly and yet to be formally charged with the offense of escape from lawful custody,” Mwale said.
It is alleged that Mwenda was behind the protest which was scheduled to take place against the awarding of a tender to construct the Ndola-Lusaka dual carriage way.
Mwenda allegedly escaped upon reaching the police station after he was apprehended along with 23 other people who were part of the unlawful assembly were apprehended by the police.
