President Hakainde Hichelima has tmet with the United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres to discuss issues bordering on Zambia’s economy, peace and security.
President Hichilema said this on the sideline of the United Nations Fifth Conference of the Least Developed Countries (LDG5) in Doha on Saturday.
He was grateful that the UN had continued to advocate for Zambia and other LDCs in highlighting continents plight, which includes high cost of capital that had restricted growth.
President Hichilema also spoke about Zambia’s initiatives towards human capital development through investment in quality healthcare and free education.
“We pledged to support the UN in our role as incoming chair of the SADC Organ on politics, peace and security and address the areas of conflict in the region,” he said.
The President reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to the ideals of the UN as it believes in the multilateralism that comes with the organisation.
