The Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) has reaffirmed its position to support government on the fight against corruption and other financial crimes.

The institute has therefore urged its members under investigations from the Ministry of Finance and National Planning and Office of the Auditor General to fully comply with the law.

“We wish to reiterate that ZICA upholds and promotes the highest levels of professional ethics and integrity amongst its Members whilst supporting the government on the fight against corruption and other financial crimes.

“ZICA will continue to offer support and solidarity to its Members provided they observe professional ethics, integrity and strict adherence to the provisions of the Public Finance Management Act in the discharge of their duties,” said ZiCA president, Cecilia Zimba in a statement issued on Monday.

Zimba urge all its affected Members to fully co-operate with the Investigative Agencies and Law Enforcement Officers in providing information.

The institute, she said, awaited the outcome of the investigations before it could take a position on the matter.

We wish to state that ZICA has not received any official communication or complaint(s) involving any of our Members in the Public Sector from either government or our Members. Therefore, this statement is made with the understanding that this matter is one of public interest,” she said.
