Police have apprehended 38 suspected “junkies” in Makeni Villa and New Kanyama for various offences, including being idle and disorderly.
Police Assistant Public Relations Officer, Godfrey Chilabi, stated that the suspects, aged between 17 and 48, included 29 males and nine females.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Saturday, Chilabi advised community members who may have been victimised by these individuals to visit Kanyama Police Station for identification to support further criminal charges.

The arrests were part of a police operation in Kanyama, following the recent apprehension of Joseph Kabanshi, alias Viper and continued efforts to clear the area of criminal gangs.
“This operation involved a joint team of police officers and neighborhood watch members, conducting both motorised and foot patrols in the area,” Chilabi added.
