Police say three people have died while two others are nursing injuries at Mufulira’s Kamuchanga General Hospital on the Copperbelt.
This was after the vehicle they were in hit two Volvo trucks along the Sabina-Mufulira road.
Copperbelt police chief commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba identified one of the deceased as Paul Sakaumba 28 who was driving a Volkswagen Passat registration number AFB 2621zm and sustained multiple head injuries, suspected internal injuries and fractured legs.

Mweemba said the other two male passengers who died after suffering fractured legs among other injuries have not been identified.
The accident happened on Wednesday around 21:00 hours when Sakaumba hit a Volvo truck and trailer registration number BCB 4526 zm, AIB 7279zm which had a breakdown.
Mweemba said shortly after hitting the first truck Mr Sakaumba hit another truck registration number ACM 7844zm, ABE 1924zm which was driven in the opposite direction.
“The accident happened when the first Volvo truck had a breakdown and in the process the same vehicle went to hit another truck which was being driven in the opposite direction.
The two survivors are Kizito Mutale 49 and Tom Tembo, aged 25,” Mweemba said.
