Zambia Police, Drug Enforcement Commission and Lusaka City Council have arrested 28 additional suspects engaging in various illicit activities within the Intercity Bus Terminal in Lusaka.
This is according to a joint statement issued in Lusaka on Friday by Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, Drug Enforcement Commission Public Relations Officer, Mwenge Mulenga, and Lusaka City Council Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba.
Through the statement, it was explained that during the operation, officers seized assorted alcoholic substances, drugs including cannabis and codeine.

It was revealed that various groceries and two fridges were seized after finding cannabis from two different shops.
The statement indicated that the operation started on December 6, 2023, aiming to enhance public safety and curb organized crime at the Bus Terminal in Lusaka.
Apprehended individuals included 20 individuals, popularly known as junkies, who were picked for idle and disorderly conduct, six for offenses related to illicit drug trafficking and two for engaging in illegal trading of game meat without proper licenses.
“On Wednesday, December 6, we warned that measures to maintain law and order have been instituted, investigations shall be ongoing and security officers shall be deployed in the area.
“All apprehended suspects are currently detained in police custody, awaiting formal charges,” the statement read.
