About 20 foreign countries are expected to participate at this year’s 95th edition of the Zambia Agriculture and Commercial Show slated for August this year.

Agriculture and Commercial Society Cooperative Society of Zambia Limited president, Duncan Mfula, announced this on Monday at a media briefing.

Mfula named the 20 countries as China, Italy, India, Iran, Japan, Pakistan, South Korea, Burundi, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Nigeria, Namibia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Egypt.

To meet the required demand for exhibition space, Mfula said the organization had added two new halls to offer them comfortable and flexible display area.

“Our estimated exhibition area is expected to attract up to over 1,300 exhibitors both indoor and outdoor. These are a combination of direct and indirect exhibitors,” he said.

Mfula said this figure showed a steady growth, which was an increase by 11 percent of the pre-pandemic participation of exhibitors.

He said the show would have government institutions, corporates, small and medium enterprises, local trade associations, foreign trade associations, international organizations, manufacturing, chamber of commerce and among other sectors of the economy.

This year’s show would be held under the theme: ‘Inclusive economic transformation’.

Mfula explained that the theme of this year’s show meant an economic transformation that was distributed fairly across society and creates opportunities for all.

He further said the theme resonated well with a number of government policies and strategies, which aimed at promoting economic transformation.
