Airtel Africa has announced plans to start auditioning for ‘The Voice Africa’ which will give upcoming artistes an opportunity to showcase their talents.
Building on the success of ‘The Voice Nigeria’, Airtel Africa is partnering with executive producers of season three and four, FAME Studios Africa, to rollout the award-winning concept to all 14 countries where the company operates from, including Zambia.
Giving an update on the latest developments, Corporate Communications Manager, Yuyo Nachali-Kambikambi, said in an exclusive interview with Zambia Monitor that they deemed it fit to come up with such a competition as a way of promoting music in Zambia and Africa.

“As a brand, music is our passion, and we want to empower our young talents and help them fulfill their ambitions, we encourage Zambians with talent to participate by uploading a 1-minute music video of yourself (themselves) singing to stand a chance to grab the continental music stage,” Nachali-Kambikambi said.
She said this was expected to attract and showcase the brightest of African musical talents and act as a launch pad for global recognition.
Nachali-Kambikambi said seven participants will get US$5,000 each for this short-list achievement from each of the 14 countries, including Zambia, saying that they will be selected to participate in the programme, with one of them eventually crowned “The Voice Africa” with main prize money of US$100,000.
“We are passionate and committed to music, we believe in Zambia and its diverse talents. Taking you back, we have sponsored MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs), the Zain Africa Challenge, which brought university students together in a quiz contest. We will continue supporting such pan-African projects that spur music talents.
In the recent past, the Tonse Data Campaign in Zambia unearthed great music talents and are currently doing well in the industry,” Nachali-Kambikambi said.
“Zambia has the youngest population and we hope that this competition will harness Zambian creativity, talent, and energy, and this will be transformational for the Zambian industry.
“Zambian talents will be provided with a global platform to showcase their talents this will earn them recognition and immense opportunities for their music careers,” Nachali-Kambikambi added.
